It’s been 49 days since the draft opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization was leaked to the media. Many believe it was done to intimidate Supreme Court justices in the majority to change their position on overturning Roe v. Wade.

If the response of abortion advocates is any indication of the motivation behind the leak, then it would seem to suggest that’s precisely what they hoped would happen.

In the last 49 days, there have been at least 60 attacks on churches, pro-life organizations, property, or people according to The Washington Stand, a Family Research Council news reporting entity.

“Jane’s Revenge,” an abortion extremist group, has claimed responsibility for many of the attacks against pro-life organizations, including an attack on a pro-life Christian pregnancy center, CompassCare, in Buffalo, New York. These radicals firebombed the office and left a haunting message – “If abortions aren’t safe here, then you aren’t either.”

The same group has also called for a “night of revenge” and for people to “riot” against the Supreme Court on the night the decision is issued if it overturns Roe.

Rev. Jim Harden, CEO of CompassCare, the pregnancy center attacked in Buffalo, is calling on Congress to protect pro-life organizations from the violence perpetrated by pro-abortion radicals. Efforts are already underway to carry out a six-point pro-life protection plan.

According to CompassCare, that plan would include the following six steps:

  1. Define attacks on pro-life organizations as hate crimes.
  2. Deny funding to states that demonstrate viewpoint discrimination against pro-life organizations.
  3. Investigate threats of domestic terrorism against pro-life organizations proactively.
  4. Funds security needs for pro-life organizations at the same level of funding that is provided to abortion clinics.
  5. Use the National Guard to protect pro-life organizations.
  6. Recognize the violence against pro-life organizations as criminal.

Other efforts underway in Congress include the introduction of a resolution, H.Res.1183, “denouncing domestic terrorist violence against religious organizations and domestic terrorist violence against groups and organizations providing pregnancy support for expectant mothers.”

The resolution, introduced last week, identifies many incidents of violence against pro-life organizations and even the attempted assassination of Supreme Court Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

In addition to denouncing domestic terrorist violence against pro-life organizations, it also calls on the Department of Justice and FBI to investigate and prosecute “domestic terrorists targeting religious organizations and pregnancy support groups.”

As reported by The Daily Citizen, after over six weeks of violent attacks against pro-life organizations last Friday, the FBI finally announced that it would begin an investigation into the acts of violence perpetrated against pregnancy resource centers and faith-based organizations.

Ironically, even while the radical pro-abortion extremists say they are protecting a woman’s right to choose, that’s exactly what they deny to pregnant women who choose to get assistance from a pregnancy resource center instead of Planned Parenthood.

Focus on the Family remains committed to helping women in unexpected pregnancies make informed decisions. We hope and pray as many women as possible will choose life for their preborn babies.

Robyn Chambers, Executive Director of Advocacy for Children at Focus on the Family, told The Daily Citizen, “Unfortunately, I am not surprised by the attacks on pro-life pregnancy care organizations, but I am deeply saddened and disappointed. These organizations have stood strong for decades and will continue to stand strong even in the face of these senseless attacks. Pregnancy care organizations are on the front lines daily, faithfully serving women and their children. Attacking, bombing and vandalism hurts those women and children who need support the most. Focus on the Family has committed to sending financial help to the centers targeted so they can continue to serve the most vulnerable among us.”

With only a few weeks left in the Court’s current term, the Dobbs decision could come at any time. This week the Court is expected to release opinions on Tuesday, June 21st, and Thursday, June 23rd.

In the meantime, pro-life friends, keep praying. Pray for the final decision in Dobbs to overturn Roe and protect preborn human life. Pray for the protection of the Supreme Court justices and their families. Pray for the safety of women seeking help at pregnancy resource centers and that they would choose life for their children. And perhaps most importantly, pray for the perpetrators of violence, that God would remove the scales from their eyes and they might see their sin, repent and make Jesus Christ the Lord of their life – then they can join us as we continue to rally together to promote life for the preborn!
