Biden Administration Targeted Conservative Christians, New Report Reveals

According to a recently released report from the “Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias,” conservative Christians in America faced unprecedented pressure, harassment and hostility during the presidency of Joe Biden.

“The Biden Administration’s policies regularly clashed with a Christian worldview and burdened traditional religious practices,” begins the report. “These conflicts frequently arose over abortion, gender ideology, and sexual orientation. Ultimately, the Biden Administration penalized Christians who lived in accordance with their beliefs.”

That’s a chilling summary of four years of protracted and expensive legal battles that pushed some believers to the brink both personally and professionally.

This anti-Christian bias impacted real families in real time. In some instances, Christian adoption agencies were forced to amend placement policies and were compelled to enable sexually confused children and reinforce beliefs that weren’t rooted in reality. It led to the bullying and silencing of parents in schools.

Whether stemming from baseless accusations from the Southern Poverty Law Center(SPLC) or other radical groups determined to weaponize the law, the report makes clear that people of conservative faith and conviction were singled out as a matter of everyday policy.

Some of the Task Force’s key findings include:

The Biden DOJ pursued aggressive prosecutions against non-violent, pro-life, Christian demonstrators under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act but responded less aggressively to violent attacks against pregnancy resource centers.

The Biden Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigated, monitored, tracked, and scrutinized traditional Catholics who had engaged in no criminal misconduct.

The Biden Internal Revenue Service (IRS) investigated churches because of what their pastors preached and Christian organizations because they applied biblical teachings to daily life.

The Biden Department of Education (ED) focused its enforcement actions against Christian universities, levying enormous fines that dwarfed the penalties for Larry Nassar’s and Jerry Sandusky’s sexual assaults.

The Biden Health and Human Services (HHS) and DOJ scaled back ongoing enforcement efforts to vindicate conscience rights, withdrawing a notice of violation against the University of Vermont Medical Center after it coerced a Christian nurse into participating in an abortion despite her religious objections.

The Biden Administration took a dismissive approach to conscience rights and religious accommodation rights on the issue of abortion.

Between January 2021 and January 2025, the Daily Citizen covered many of these appalling cases of discrimination. Thanks to our justice system, many of these situations wound their way through the courts, even getting appealed, argued, and overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Victories at the High Court represent ultimate earthly justice in the United States but what’s often missed and maybe even diminished is the personal, emotional and even spiritual toll these cases can take on their victims. Over the years, we’ve thoroughly detailed the exhausting and unrelenting harassment of Jack Phillips, the owner of Masterpiece Cake Shop in Colorado.

Phillips has been involved in three major cases, all stemming from his refusal to create cakes that violate his deeply held religious convictions. He won at the Supreme Court and yet has still been forced to fight off other lawsuits, with most of the cases either being dismissed or dropped.

“The Task Force’s findings are particularly troubling against the backdrop of apparent increases in threats, vandalism, and violence against Christians in the last few years,” we read in the final pages of the report. “Christian schools and churches have faced unimaginable mass shootings in Tennessee and Minnesota, while Christian conservative activist Charlie Kirk was killed in broad daylight while dialoguing over matters of faith and policy.”

The exhaustive 200-page report establishes for the good of the record these instances of bias and notes that the Trump administration is committed to eradicating the wrongs and reaffirming America’s longstanding commitment to religious freedom.

“No American should live in fear that the federal government will punish them for their faith,” said Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, Chair of the Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias. “As our report lays out, the Biden Administration’s actions devastated the lives of many Christian Americans. That devastation ended with President Trump. The Department of Justice will continue to expose bad actors who targeted Christians and work tirelessly to restore religious liberty for all Americans of faith.”
