Hurray for Walmart Abandoning DEI Programs and Policies: ‘Biggest Win Yet’

Walmart is one of the biggest corporations in the world. It’s the world’s largest company by revenue – earning a staggering $648 billion annually. It has a market cap of over $743 billion and is the largest private employer in the world – employing 2.1 million people.

So, whenever Walmart changes in its cultural policy, it’s a big deal.

Activist Robby Starbuck announced that Walmart is “ending their woke policies” in an X post on Monday.

Starbuck said that he had contacted Walmart last week, informing the company’s executives he was planning to do a story on “wokeness” there. “Instead, we had productive conversations to find solutions,” he announced.

In their conversations, Walmart committed to:

  • No longer participate in the Human Rights Campaign’s woke Corporate Equality Index.
  • Monitor the Walmart marketplace to identify and remove inappropriate sexual and / or transgender products marketed to children.
  • Review all funding of Pride, and other events, to avoid funding inappropriate sexualized content targeting kids.
  • Evaluate supplier diversity programs and ensure they do not provide preferential treatment and benefits to suppliers based on diversity.
  • No longer use the term “LatinX” or “DEI” in official communications.
  • Discontinue racial equity training through the Racial Equity Institute.

Walmart’s decision to no longer participate in HRC’s so-called Corporate Equality Index is an especially big deal; that guide gives an uber-left organization extraordinary power over corporate policies. HRC had previously given Walmart a perfect 100/100 in its 2023 report, giving the company an Equality 100: Leader in LGBTQ+ Workplace Inclusion designation.

Starbuck said,

I have to give their executives major credit because this will send shockwaves throughout corporate America. This is the biggest win yet for our movement to end wokeness in corporate America.

As author James Lindsay has explained, DEI has its roots in “neo-Marxist identity theories like critical race theory.” Its goal is to “force captive audiences of people to achieve ‘equitable’ redistribution of resources, status, and wealth.” In five words, “It’s an expansion of socialism.”

That’s why these actions by Walmart are a massive win for true equality and real diversity – rather than the fake “equality” and “diversity” of the modern Left, where one’s racial identity and sexual experiences surpass all else in importance.

True diversity is measured not along purely racial lines, but is inclusive of other standards like ideological diversity, diversity of thought, religious perspectives and life experiences.

Now, thanks to the good work of Robby Starbuck, one of the largest and most influential corporations in the world is saying, “enough,” to racial pandering and the sexual indoctrination of children.

Walmart joins a growing list of corporations changing the DEI policy, including Tractor Supply, John Deere, Harley Davidson, Polaris, Indian Motorcycle, Lowe’s, Ford, Coors, Stanley Black & Decker, Jack Daniels, DeWalt tools, Craftsman, Caterpillar, Boeing, Toyota.

Let’s hope even more companies will soon follow suit.

Focus on the Family President Jim Daly recently interviewed Monique Duson, the founder and president of the Center for Biblical Unity. Duson spent two decades advocating for Critical Race Theory before realizing the contradictions of CRT with a Christian worldview.
