In an announcement, pro-abortion Rewire.News editors explained to readers that it would change how it references abortion, more specifically changing “surgical abortion” to an “in-clinic abortion” since “no cutting” occurs.
Per Rewire, “The term ‘surgical abortion’ has been used by health professionals—and until now, by Rewire.News—to define any in-clinic abortion not induced by medication. For pregnancies in the first trimester, which is when the vast majority of abortions occur, this involves a procedure called vacuum aspiration. The word ‘surgical’ in this instance is misleading—the procedure doesn’t typically require cutting or suturing of any kind. It’s a five- to ten-minute process involving gentle suction to remove the products of conception from the uterus.”
Yes, ripping a preborn child from his or her mother’s womb and turning their body into medical waste is “gentle.” And if the process is so “gentle” as the editors say, then why do some women agree to pay extra in order to receive sedation during the process? It isn’t easy for the mother nor the child.
But of course, pro-life advocates are responsible for this change because they are “weaponizing” the term during the coronavirus pandemic.
According to Amy Hagstrom Miller, president and CEO of Whole Women’s Health, “(Pro-life activists) are talking about abortion as surgery that’s going to somehow use up a whole bunch of critical medical supplies and take personal protective equipment (PPE) away from the hospital. They’re preying on the public’s misunderstanding of what actually happens in abortion.”
Dr. Daniel Grossman, an abortionist, tried to downplay how much PPE that abortionists use in a first trimester abortion. He wrote on Twitter, “Here’s what a first-trimester abortion in a clinic requires in terms of PPE: 2 pairs of gloves (1 for the ultrasound and 1 for the procedure) and a reusable face shield. A gown and mask are not usually required.”
The most shocking part of this much longer Twitter thread by Dr. Grossman is this, “What about the argument about banning abortion saves PPE like gloves, masks, and gowns? It’s important to recognize that if a pregnant person continues their pregnancy, they end up using a lot more gloves, gowns, and masks than with abortion.”
This just demonstrates that what abortionists and abortion activists, like Rewire.News, support is death. There is no doubt about that. How can Dr. Grossman say that pregnancy requires more PPE, so it makes sense to kill the preborn baby rather than allow him or her to be born? It’s an utterly ridiculous notion that places a greater emphasis and importance on death than life.
At the end of the article, Rewire.News claims that this is all done in order to “reduce abortion stigma.” It’s doubtful that this idea will become a reality when all they’re doing is spinning a word salad in order to avoid the hard reality that abortion isn’t easy nor is it without victims.
Abortion ends the life of a preborn baby. All that potential is eliminated the moment that vacuum is placed in the womb. And abortion will likely result in emotional pain and regret for the mother.
But for those who make that choice, there is hope and healing.
