Students for Life Put Up Pro-Life Ad in Times Square
The decision of New York legislators to legalize abortion until birth has in many ways galvanized the pro-life movement. Students for Life, an organization dedicated to educating and mobilizing pro-life young adults, has taken its pro-life message to New York City. For three days, a 15 second pro-life video will air on one of the largest stages in the entire world, a billboard in Times Square.
In the short video, Students for Life took that moment to air three powerful messages. The first says, “Today, Planned Parenthood will end the lives of 910 human babies,” and a young woman holding a sign that says, “I don’t trust Planned Parenthood.” The next says, “Only 7% of millennials support the abortion extremism made legal in New York state,” and another young woman holding a sign that says, “I reject abortion extremism.” The final slide says, “The pro-life generation has arrived to vote out abortion,” with a young woman holding a sign that says, “I am the pro-life generation.”
The sign that the Students for Life acquired is a 50-foot-tall HD video screen on the 5thflood of an office building and will air at least 720 times over the course of a couple days. Thousands of New Yorkers and tourists a day will see the sign. But getting the ad space wasn’t easy.
“We had to fight to have our message heard as twice companies pulled the plug on our custom-made ad after intensive negotiations,” Students for Life President Kristan Hawkins said. “But we don’t give up on college campuses, even when facing threats of violence, and we didn’t give up on sending a message to the vast majority of New Yorkers who reject infanticide and are horrified by the abortion extremism recently legalized in New York.”
In addition to the billboard, Students for Life has also brought its highly successful #PlannedParenthoodTruth tour to Manhattan. This tour is currently going to about 130 college campuses across the country to share the truth about Planned Parenthood and how the abortion business treats its patients. The leaders of Students for Life are hoping to gather a number of signatures and present it to New York Department of Health.
