‘The Mandalorian’ Actress Uncancelled After ‘The Daily Wire’ Hires Her to Produce Film

Gina Carano

Actress Gina Carano has been hired by The Daily Wire to develop, produce and act in her own film after the conservative actress was cancelled by Disney+ this week ostensibly over a controversial social media post.

In a statement on Friday, Carano called the abrupt job change “a dream come true.”

The Daily Wire is helping make one of my dreams — to develop and produce my own film — come true. I cried out and my prayer was answered. I am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob. I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same.

“They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them,” she added.

Carano had been fired from her role as Cara Dune on the hit television show “The Mandalorian” supposedly over a social media post comparing being a conservative in America to being a Jew living in Nazi Germany.

“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors… even by children,” Carano had said. “Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”

Lucasfilm, the company that produced “Star Wars” and is now owned by The Walt Disney Company, called Carano’s post “abhorrent.”

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” Lucasfilm said. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

It is not at all apparent how Carano’s post denigrated people based on cultural and religious identities.

Additionally, many accused Disney of several layers of hypocrisy, pointing out that the main star on “The Mandalorian,” Pedro Pascal, has previously made comparisons to the Holocaust.

Pascal tweeted in 2018 an image of immigrant children in cages, next to an image of children behind barbed wire at the death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau taken by Soviet troops in January 1945. “#ThisisAmerica” he tweeted along with the pictures.

As The Daily Citizen reported yesterday, “the picture of the children Pascal used in the post had nothing to do with the United States or U.S. Border Control—they were actually Palestinian children being held by Israeli authorities.”

The Daily Citizen also noted that Disney+ ignored “the ongoing genocide against the Uyghur people in Xinjiang China, and instead publicly thanked the Chinese Communist authorities for their tour of the region in the end credits of the panned live action ‘Mulan’ film.”

What do you think? Is a social media post more “abhorrent” than publicly thanking the Chinese Communist Party during its ongoing genocide?

In a statement welcoming her to The Daily Wire, co-founder and Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro touted the hire as a part of the company’s plan to “build the X-wing to take down their Death Star.”

“We could not be more excited to be working with Gina Carano, an incredible talent dumped by Disney and Lucasfilm for offending the authoritarian Hollywood Left. This is what The Daily Wire exists to do: provide an alternative not just for consumers, but for creators who refuse to bow to the mob,” Shapiro said.

“We’re eager to bring Gina’s talent to Americans who love her, and we’re just as eager to show Hollywood that if they want to keep cancelling those who think differently, they’ll just be helping us build the X-wing to take down their Death Star,” he added.
