Virginia High School Staff Accused of Arranging Secret Abortions for Minors
Allegations have recently surfaced against Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), claiming staff at Centreville High School secretly arranged and funded abortions for two minors in 2021.
A report from WJLA states that two former Centerville High School students have accused school officials of facilitating their abortions at Fairfax Healthcare Center in Virginia. The allegations came to light on social media, and assert that school staff did not seek parental consent.
Both girls claim their principal, Chad Lehman, was aware of these horrific occurrences.
One of the former students was 17 at the time of her abortion. Her hand-written note to a media outlet, translated from its original Spanish, reads:
The second girl, who was 5 months pregnant at the time, claims she was told by social worker Carolina Díaz that she “had no other choice” after begging to keep her baby. Terrified, she ran from the clinic and narrowly escaped the procedure.
She later confided in a teacher, Mrs. Perz, who confirmed with the girl’s family that they were never informed of the school’s attempt to terminate their daughter’s pregnancy.
Additional evidence shows school administrators tried to fire or force Mrs. Perz to resign by pressuring students to trap her into minor policy violations. However, Mrs. Perz stood firm, stating:
Visits to Fairfax Healthcare center in broad daylight were met with a metal bolt across its doors and no staff in sight. Neighbors described the building as “always locked.”
In a recent statement to WJLA, FCPS said,
Allegedly, the school staff responsible for facilitating the abortions used taxpayer dollars to cover the costs. Their actions not only violate several Virginia laws, but also FCPS Regulation 2504.6. This school policy states:
This regulation applies to school counselors, social workers, psychologists and other staff members.
Additionally, Virginia Code § 16.1‑241 outlines that prior to performing an abortion on a minor, a physician must certify in writing that at least one of the child’s parents has been notified of the procedure.
The actions of these school district employees not only traumatized high school girls, but also violated Virginia law, disrespected school policy, misused public funds and ended the life of a precious baby.
These behaviors are inexcusable, and students everywhere deserve better from their schools.
