Wife of Marine Killed in Kabul Terrorist Attack Gives Birth to Baby Girl

The wife of a 20-year-old marine, one of the 13 killed in the recent terrorist attack in Kabul, Afghanistan, has given birth to a newborn baby girl.

“Rylee McCollum, who was killed in the Kabul terror attack, had been in Afghanistan a matter of weeks and was due home in October to be reunited with his wife Jiennah Crayton, known as Gigi,” the Sun reports.

Tragically, he was “killed while manning an airport checkpoint at the time of the bombing.”

Crayton’s mother, Jill Miller Crayton, told the Sun that Jiennah was “crushed” after receiving the tragic news that her husband had been killed.

“I hadn’t known her to be so happy until she married him and found out she was pregnant. It was like she was complete … She doesn’t like all the attention that’s going to fall on her, she thinks it should be all about him,” Jill Crayton said.

After losing her husband, Jiennah said that she had lost her best friend.

“Nothing will ever make that hurt less. He would’ve been the best dad. I wish he could see how much of an impact he made on this world. I’m so proud to call him my husband,” she wrote.

In a Facebook post, Jill Crayton said the newborn baby girl “came roaring into this world and graced us all with her presence at 2:18 am.”

“I am fiercely happy and proud today … I knew it was a girl,” she added.

The baby was born at Camp Pendleton in California, weighing 8 lbs and 10 ounces.

The Daily Wire notes that Jiennah has received an outpouring of support. “Thanks to online donations mom and baby now have a nest egg of around $827,610 and the promise of a new house to be built by a group of volunteers.”

And the baby girl’s name?
