Number of ‘Transgender’ Surgeries Performed Triples From 2016 to 2019
The number of “transgender” surgeries performed in the United States tripled in just three years, a new study found.
The study was published in JAMA Network Open on August 23, 2023. Its authors found that “the number of gender-affirming surgeries rose from 4,552 in 2016 to 13,011 in 2019.”
“The number of medical appointments [ostensibly] related to [gender dysphoria] rose from 13,855 in 2016 to 38,740 in 2020,” the study’s authors said.
Positing one contributing factor for the rise, the study said that “changes in federal and state laws mandating coverage of [transgender] surger[ies] may have led to an increase in the number of annual cases.”
Of the 48,019 patients who underwent surgery, 25,099 patients were age 19 to 30 (52.3%) while 10,476 were age 31 to 40 (21.8%).
But perhaps the study’s most disturbing finding was that 3,678 surgeries (7.7%) were performed on minors and teenagers aged 12 to 18.
Additionally,
The most common procedures were breast and chest procedures, which occurred in 27,187 patients (56.6%), followed by genital reconstruction (16,872 [35.1%]) and other facial and cosmetic procedures (6,669 [13.9%]).
It’s important to remember that no amount of surgery can make someone become the opposite sex. The only thing that transgender surgeries can do is physically alter (damage) an individual’s healthy body to make them appear more like the opposite sex, causing irreversible damage.
At the same time that many European countries are turning away from performing transgender medical interventions, particularly on minors, the United States is full steam ahead – at least in a majority of states.
Thankfully, just last week, North Carolina became the 20th state in the Union to pass “Help Not Harm” legislation to protect minors from dangerous and experimental transgender surgeries.
At the same time, it’s deeply tragic that in just three years, at least 3,678 minors underwent sterilizing and permanent transgender surgeries – all in the name of “medicine.”
Please pray for these victims. Pray for those currently struggling with sexual identity confusion – that they may be protected from harmful and experimental transgender medical interventions – and that they may come to know their true identity as biologically male or female, made in the very image and likeness of God Himself.
