After J.K. Rowling publicly stood up for Maya Forstater, a researcher who was fired from her job for stating men cannot become women, the online outrage mob tried to “cancel” her. Yet, Rowling has refused to bow to pressure from transgender activist groups and has not apologized for supporting Maya.

Forstater was fired from her job as a researcher with the Centre for Global Development after tweeting about the biological reality of sex. For example, Forstater tweeted the following: “What I am so surprised at is that smart people who I admire, who are absolutely pro-science in other areas, and champion human rights & women’s rights are tying themselves in knots to avoid saying the truth that men cannot change into women (because that might hurt men’s feelings).”

For that astute observation, Forstater was fired.

As a result, she brought a lawsuit against her former employer in a London court. The judge in the case ruled alarmingly that her firing was justified and that her views on gender were “absolutist” and “not worthy of respect in a democratic society and incompatible with the human rights of others.” According to the judge, apparently science is no longer worthy of respect.

In support of Forstater, Rowling tweeted, “Dress however you please. Call yourself whatever you like. Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you. Live your best life in peace and security. But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real? #IStandWithMaya #ThisIsNotADrill.”

Amazingly, Rowling affirms many of the talking points that the Left always supports. Yet, for simply acknowledging the reality of biological sex, transgender activists responded with outrage.

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) was one such organization that reacted with indignance. “Rowling has aligned herself with an anti-science ideology that denies the basic humanity of people who are transgender. Trans and non-binary people are not a threat to women, and to imply otherwise puts trans people at risk. Now is the time for feminists who know and support trans people to speak up and support trans people’s right to be treated equally and fairly,” GLAAD tweeted.

Of course, no one denies the “basic humanity” of transgender people, and that is certainly not what Rowling did. She simply questioned the wisdom of firing a female researcher for affirming the reality of biological sex.

As The Daily Wire reported, GLAAD reached out to Rowling to set up a meeting between her and transgender activists, but Rowling declined the invitation.

Rowling should be commended for refusing to bow to pressure from the transgender activist mob and leftist groups like GLAAD.

After decades of pushing for women’s rights, it’s intriguing many leftists discount the rights of women like Maya Forstater for using her voice to defend the reality of biological sex.

Let’s hope more celebrities start standing up for women and calling out gender ideology for what it is, a farce.
