Meet Three Heroes Working to Protect Colorado Children

Voters in the deep blue state of Colorado have a chance to protect children, as children’s advocates Mark “Oz” Geist, Jennifer Sey and Erin Lee work to place three important measures on Colorado’s November 2026 ballot.

Geist, Sey and Lee are spearheading Protect Kids Colorado’s campaign to collect signatures for three ballot initiatives: The first increases penalties for predators who traffic children; the second keeps males from participating in girls sports; while the third bans irreversible “transgender” surgeries for minors.

In order to reach the state’s threshold of 125,000 valid signatures from registered voters, the organization has a goal of collecting at least 200,000 total signatures for each initiative. Petition signatures are due in February.

While the Trump administration is working to protect children and combat the transgender agenda, Colorado and other blue states are pushing back. A different federal administration could shift back toward harming children, so it’s important that measures like these are enshrined into state law.

Penalties for Human Trafficking of a Minor

Geist is running point on a commonsense ballot measure to raise human trafficking of a minor from a Class 2 to a Class 1 felony in Colorado, mandating life in prison without parole for perpetrators.

Geist was a member of the Annex Security Team which fought terrorists who attacked the U.S. State Department Special Mission Compound in Benghazi, Libya, on September 11, 2012. Geist sustained injuries in the attack that still affect him.

The Team’s exploits, saving the lives of more than 25 Americans, were chronicled in the book 13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi. The film13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi was based on that account.

He also founded the Shadow Warriors Project, an organization which supports private military security contractors and their families.

In a recent post on X, Geist encouraged Coloradans to support the anti-trafficking measure by signing the petition, saying, “If you care about kids, if you want protections in place to keep our children safe sign the petition we need your help.”

Geist has a heart for children, as evidenced by his work on this ballot initiative and a prayer he posted on X:

Heavenly Father, We come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up the children of this nation – Your precious sons and daughters. Lord, You formed each one with purpose, in Your image, and with a calling only You can define.
Protect them from the darkness – those who push confusion, who seek to groom, exploit, and traffic them. Guard their hearts, minds, and bodies from every agenda that twists Your truth.

Protecting Girls Sports From Biological Males

Jennifer Sey is heading up the effort to safeguard girls sports, and the privacy and safety of female athletes, through the second ballot initiative.

The founder and CEO of XX-XY Athletics, Sey was an elite gymnast, a seven-time member of the U.S. Women’s National Gymnastics Team and the U.S. Women’s All-Around National Champion in 1986.

Sey made headlines when she worked as the global brand president for Levis. She spoke out on behalf of children during California’s draconian COVID-19 lockdown measures – and lost her job.

Sey explains her advocacy for children at that time:

I was for open public schools and playgrounds, for youth sports, against masks on toddlers and against vaccine mandates for students.

Now, through her clothing line and her support of the Colorado ballot initiative to protect girls sports, she’s still advocating for children.

Sey explains her mission on the XX-XY website:

Women deserve the opportunities that sports and single sex spaces provide. Sex matters. It is the single biggest determinant of athletic performance.
It is unfair and dangerous to allow males (XY) to compete in girls and women’s (XX) sports.

Sey recently posted on X about the initiative, urging others to get behind the initiative. She said:

Girls and women deserve their own sports! They deserve safety, fairness, and equal opportunity. They deserve a chance to compete and a chance to win.
But right now in CO – where I live – boys can compete in girls’ sports.
We’ve got a petition to get on the ballot so the people can decide! If you’re in CO, sign! Go to http://ProtectKidsColorado.org to find out more.

Protecting Children From Irreversible Sex Change Surgeries

Erin Lee, founder of Protect Kids Colorado, is promoting the third ballot measure which bans “surgery for minors for the purpose of altering the minor’s biological sex characteristics.” The measure also prohibits government funding for surgeries that mutilate children.

Erin and Jon Lee grew passionate about safeguarding children from transgender ideology after their 12-year-old daughter was targeted by activists at an “art club” meeting at Wellington Middle School, in Fort Collins.

The club, actually a “Gender and Sexuality Alliance” run by the school’s art teacher, hosted an outside activist to talk about sexuality, puberty blockers and polyamory – in the absence of students’ parents. The talk led to deep confusion for the Lee’s daughter.

Their daughter was able to find healing and freedom from sexual identity confusion, but other children aren’t always so fortunate – and their bodies are devastated by drugs, hormones and surgeries.

The Colorado measure would protect children from irreversible, mutilating surgeries that attempt to make them look like the opposite sex.

Erin Lee is passionate about getting all three measures on the ballot. In a recent X post, she excoriated Colorado groups and politicians who “want to keep butchering children without interruption.” She noted that transgender activists and their allies are losing ground, and encouraged support for Protect Kids Colorado’s initiative.

How You Can Help

The citizen ballot measure process gives Coloradans the opportunity to fundamentally challenge the state’s liberal activism and protect children.

Protect Kids Colorado has about six weeks to finish gathering signatures for these initiatives, each of which Focus on the Family supports.

Colorado voters can join forces with Geist, Sey and Lee by carrying petitions, collecting signatures and signing all three ballot initiatives.

Concerned citizens from any state can help out by sharing this story, donating to Protect Kids Colorado and praying that each measure qualifies for the ballot and wins next November!
