House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her fellow Democrats infamously passed new rules this week for how their august institution will conduct its official business. This included nixing gender specific language which they boast makes this 117th Congress “the most inclusive in history.” This, even though everyone who works in this Congress and every constituent they serve is male or female. These new rules literally require:
- Chairman will become chair.
- Terms for familial relationships — such as mother, father, daughter, son, sister and brother — will be neutered with parent, child and sibling.
- The phrases “he or she serves” and “he or she holds” will be replaced with ‘‘Member, Delegate, or Resident Commissioner serves or holds.”
But the false god of inclusivity is a brutal taskmaster who is impossible to please.
Speaker Pelosi and Rules Committee Chairman James P. McGovern (D-MA) demonstrates this fact in their official announcement of these very rules. It’s right here in black and white for anyone to be offended by if they so choose.
And Speaker Pelosi’s own official Congressional bio violates the spirit of inclusivity regularly by referring to herself, quite proudly, as a celebrated woman.
It also flagrantly mentions her very gender-binary family relationships.
Nancy Pelosi’s family appears to be downright un-inclusive. She seems to know nothing of all those other beautiful genders that we are told make up humanity. It is unclear at press time whether the Speaker’s five children and nine grandchildren are any of the other supposed genders beyond male or female.
Yes, it is not difficult to demonstrate the silliness of contemporary gender politics and its make-believe view of what it means to be human. One just wishes that those who lead our nation’s business in the United States capital could appreciate the fact.
