Planned Parenthood Earns $2 Billion Killing Over 400,000 Babies, Annual Report Shows

Planned Parenthood released its latest annual report, showing abortion remains a big and profitable business for the supposedly “nonprofit organization.”

In its Annual Report 2023-2024, wickedly titled “A Force For Hope,” the abortion giant reports over $2 billion in revenue and reveals it killed a record 402,200 babies by abortion in one year alone.

The Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI), a pro-life research organization, analyzed the report and summarized the following data.

Abortion

The CLI notes that Planned Parenthood’s service data lags behind the rest of the report’s information, containing information on services provided in 2022-2023. They explain,

  • Planned Parenthood performed a record 402,230 abortions in 2022-23 – an increase of over 9,500 (2%) from the previous year, and an increase of 23% since 2013.
  • The number of patients increased by just 1% from the previous year and was down by 23% from 2013.
  • In 2022-23, 96.9% of the time, women seeking help related to their pregnancy at Planned Parenthood were sold an abortion rather than given prenatal care, provided care for a miscarriage, or helped to make an adoption plan. Prenatal services, miscarriage care, and adoption referrals accounted for only 1.7% (7,008), 0.9% (3,598), and 0.5% (2,148), respectively.
  • For every adoption referral in 2022-23, Planned Parenthood performed 187 abortions. Over the past 10 annual reports, the ratio was approximately 136 abortions for every one adoption referral.

Other Services

Planned Parenthood’s data shows that the organization – as it continues to increase the number of abortions it performs – is providing fewer non-abortion services. Since 2013:

  • Total services are down more than 10%.
  • With changing practice guidelines, total cancer screening and prevention services have dropped by 54%, including declines of 61% for breast exams and 54% for pap tests.
  • Prenatal services are down 63%.

Planned Parenthood has been called an abortion mill by pro-life activists for years, and their own numbers show why. But they have grown even more sinister.

In recent years, Planned Parenthood has also begun distributing transgender drugs and hormones, becoming the nation’s second-largest provider of “hormone therapy.” An investigation by the Manhattan Institute found that nearly 40,000 people went to Planned Parenthood for opposite-sex hormones in 2023 alone, with about 40% between the ages of 18 and 22.

Nearly 450 Planned Parenthood clinics offer transgender medical interventions; 45 of 49 Planned Parenthood affiliates offer “gender-affirming hormone therapy.”

Financials

For Planned Parenthood, abortion remains big business and big money. The Charlotte Lozier Institute summarizes:

  • Planned Parenthood reported over $2 billion in income and over $2.5 billion in net assets.
  • $684.1 million came from private contributions, down 31% from the previous report.
  • Taxpayer funding in the form of government grants, contracts, and Medicaid reimbursements hit $792.2 million, over $2 million per day – an increase of $92.9 million from the previous report and representing 39% of Planned Parenthood’s overall revenue.
  • Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding has increased by 50% since 2013.
  • Planned Parenthood’s excess of total revenue over total expenses is $27.4 million. Last year Planned Parenthood reported an excess of total revenue over total expenses of $178.6 million.

According to these numbers, the abortion giant – which, again, is supposed to be a “nonprofit organization” – earned a profit of $206 million in the last two years alone.

The abortion provider’s annual report also touted former Vice President Kamala Harris’ visit to Planned Parenthood North Central States’ center in St. Paul, Minnesota. Harris was the first sitting vice president to visit an abortion provider.

Planned Parenthood also spent $3.4 million on travel expenses helping over 12,500 women travel to abort their babies. The organization also helped more than 100,000 women obtain abortions through transportation and travel support, financial assistance and referral services, according to the annual report.

As this report demonstrates, Planned Parenthood should not receive one more cent of taxpayer money.

The Trump administration has already moved to freeze at least $20 million from going to the organization. Furthermore, Congress is currently considering defunding Planned Parenthood in its upcoming reconciliation bill.

Please contact your congressman and senators and urge them to defund Planned Parenthood of all taxpayer dollars.
