Last weekend, liberal outlets like Rolling Stone and others dramatically twisted and catastrophized comments Michael Knowles of the Daily Wire made in a recent CPAC speech about transgenderism.

Folks like Harvard Law School’s Alejandro Caraballo and the Advocate actually accused Knowles of calling for genocide of “trans people” because “’Transgenderism’ is people.”

Of course, he was calling for nothing of the sort. And “transgenderism” is not people.

People are people and transgenderism is an ideological belief system that exists in the mind and is being forced upon all of us.

Transgenderism is a wholly false and anti-scientific belief system, an opinion, of what it means to be male and female. Biology determines this, not one’s self-perception. Being so-called “transgender” – which the American Psychiatric Association admits “is a non-medical term” and does not describe an actual medical or physiological condition – is merely a subjective appropriation of male and female. It is not true.

But transgenderism actually does more than this. It erases male and female of any meaning. And it does so as an ideology that was forced upon us all in just the last few milliseconds of human history without any scientific or objectively verifiable rationale.

Thus, all of us are being forced to play along with and approve of every aspect of this newly manufactured untruth. It is causing nothing but confusion because it intentionally denies reality.

In his CPAC speech, Knowles correctly stated, “The problem with transgenderism is not that it is inappropriate for children under the age of nine. The problem with transgenderism is that it isn’t true.”

This fact is the primary thing everyone must know about transgenderism. It falsely claims that to “identify” as male or female is more real and true than biology. And yes, people have the right to believe anything they want, as disconnected from reality as it might be. That is basic human freedom.

But the other major problem with this “ism” is that those who created it are telling the rest of us we must accept it in totality without question in our language, belief, and behavior.

The current rules say you cannot disagree with this “ism” and be a decent person. Disagree and you are threatened, fired or canceled. Real policy changes now enforce all of this at the local and federal level.

None of this is an option for reasonable people, and that was Knowles’ very point.

Knowles put it precisely right in his speech, “The problem with transgenderism is that its acceptance at any level necessarily entails the complete destruction” of what it means to be a man or woman, boy or girl. And Focus on the Family is deeply concerned with the danger of this “ism.” If you cannot speak truthfully about male and female, you cannot speak meaningfully about the family because the family is generated and sustained at their intersection.

Those who have constructed this “ism” have made this a zero-sum game. “There can be no middle way in dealing with transgenderism. It is all or nothing.” Knowles explains,

If transgenderism is true, if men really can become women, then it’s true for everybody of all ages. If transgenderism is false as it is, if men really can become women, as they cannot, then it’s false for everybody too. And if it’s false, then we should not indulge it.

It is really that simple. And the logical conclusion of this is what caused activists to catastrophize his remarks. He explained,

If it is false, then for the good of society, and especially, for the good of the poor people who have fallen prey to this confusion, transgenderism must be eradicated from public life entirely, the whole preposterous ideology at every level.

Yes, this “ism” that says man and woman, boy and girl are not objective, biological realities must be eradicated because:

  • It isn’t true in any sense.
  • The rest of us are being forced to play along with this false new reality with our language and behavior via public speech codes and affirmation signaling, pretending it all makes sense and is the compassionate thing to do.
  • Corporations, government, educators, medical professionals, the media, and social media trollers are using this false belief to compel speech that the speaker knows is untrue, attack freedom of conscience and religion, threaten individual livelihood, and irreparably damage children.

What Michael Knowles said should not be controversial in the least. The fact that it is is a very disturbing sign of our times.
