Tim Tebow is issuing a New Year’s challenge to Christians for 2023.

“My hope for you is that you begin to live your life with a deeper sense of purpose, meaning and significance than ever before and make your life count,” Tebow told Christians via Fox News.

“Today, you can begin to live your life on a trajectory that sets you up to accomplish feats of eternal purpose.”

The well-known former NFL quarterback was born on August 14, 1987, to Pamela and Robert Tebow, who served as Christian missionaries in the Philippines. When Tebow’s mom became pregnant with the future football star, doctors advised her to abort him because of medical complications.

She refused.

After moving back to the United States, Tebow was homeschooled along with his four older siblings. He played high school football at a local Florida school, where his abilities quickly shone through. He was named Florida’s Player of the Year twice in high school, and then accepted an athletic scholarship to the University of Florida where he went on to win the Heisman Trophy before making his professional debut with the Denver Broncos.

The athlete is well known for being outspoken about his Christian faith, as well as his dedication to charity work. His knack for kneeling down in the end zone to say a brief prayer at every pro football game turned into a cultural phenomenon in 2011; his form of prayer became known as “Tebowing.”

However, Tebow has slowly moved away from the field of professional athletics, after a stint with the New York Mets from 2016 – 2020.

Now, he’s recently published a new devotional book, Mission Possible One-Year Devotional: 365 Days of Inspiration for Pursuing Your God-Given Purpose.

According to a description of the book, Tebow “challenges you to find your mission and pursue a bolder, brighter, more fulfilling life – by building your faith every single day.

“The secret to a truly meaningful life doesn’t involve more comfort or ease. It requires a clear focus on who God made you to be and a proven guide to get you there.”

As we head into 2023, what are your goals and dreams for the new year? What goals do you have for your family?

Before we turn the page on 2022 and schools, schedules, and the normal business of life resume, perhaps take a few moments to pray over what the Lord may be calling you to in 2023.
