Erika Kirk: ‘Charlie Loved God’s Design for Marriage and Family’

Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika, gave an impassioned and heartfelt message on Friday night in her first public appearance since her husband’s death, vowing to carry on Charlie’s legacy.

Charlie, 31, was founder of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) and father of he and Erika’s two young children. He was assassinated last Wednesday by alleged killer Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old Utah native.

Speaking beside Charlie’s chair on the set of “The Charlie Kirk Show,” Erika said,

They killed Charlie because he preached a message of patriotism, faith, and God’s merciful love. They should all know this: If you thought that my husband’s mission was powerful before, you have no idea.

“You have no idea what you just have unleashed across this entire country, in this world, you have no idea,” she emphasized.

Erika recalled Charlie’s love of God’s design for marriage and family – and especially his own wife and kids.

“Charlie loved, loved life. He loved his life. He loved America. He loved nature, which helped him always bring him closer to God. He loved the Chicago Cubs. And my goodness, did he love the Oregon Ducks,” Erika shared.

“But most of all, Charlie loved his children. And he loved me with all of his heart, and I knew that.”

She conveyed how every day, he would ask her, “How can I serve you better? How can I be a better husband? How can I be a better father?”

“Every day,” she reiterated. “He is such a good man. He still is a good man.”

Erika continued,

Charlie always believed that God’s design for marriage and the family was absolutely amazing, and it is. It is, and it was the greatest joy of his life.
And over and over, he would tell all these young people to come and find their future spouse [and] become wives and husbands and parents. And the reason why is because he wanted you all to experience what he had – and still has.

“He wanted everyone to bring heaven into this earth through love and joy that comes from raising a family,” she said. “It’s beautiful.”

During Charlie’s life – and after his death – many speculated about his political ambitions. Erika revealed that Charlie did indeed consider running for office and already knew, if elected, what his priority would be:

Charlie always said that if he ever ran for office – I know a lot of you asked if he ever was going to – but privately, he told me if he ever did run for office that his top priority would be to revive the American family. That was his priority.

On Monday, September 15, Vice President JD Vance hosted “The Charlie Kirk Show” in memory of his friend.

The vice president recounted the moment he and his wife, Usha, met with Erika after Charlie’s death. Erika told them how Charlie never raised his voice, never cussed at her and was never cross or mean-spirited towards her. Vance said that caused a moment of deep reflection for him.

“I think that on the great balance of things that I’m a pretty good husband, but I could never say that I was never unpleasant with my wife,” the vice president said. “I took from that moment that I needed to be a better husband and I needed to be a better father.”

Since Charlie’s assassination, TPUSA has seen a “massive surge” in inquires for new college chapters. According to Andrew Kolvet, executive producer of “The Charlie Kirk Show,” TPUSA has received more than 37,000 new inquiries from individuals wanting to start chapters on their high school or college campuses.

The organization currently boasts 900 official college chapters and around 1,200 high school chapters.

“Charlie’s vision to have a Club America chapter (our high school brand) in every high school in America (around 23,000) will come true much, much faster than he could have ever possibly imagined,” Kolvet said. “This is the Turning Point.”

No one can replace Charlie Kirk. But individuals saddened and heartbroken by his murder can strive to emulate Charlie’s love for his faith, family and freedom in their own lives.

It would be a fitting and beautiful way to memorialize Charlie Kirk, and I bet he’d agree.
