VP Vance: ‘Better to Be Persecuted Than Deny the Kingship of Christ’

An estimated 100 million people tuned into Charlie Kirk’s memorial service on Sunday, hearing nearly every speaker proclaim the grace and mercy found through faith in Jesus Christ.

In an interview prior to his death, Charlie Kirk said he wanted to be remembered most for “courage for his faith.” After yesterday, his hope has been fulfilled one thousand-fold.

In his remarks at the service, Vice President JD Vance said, “I have talked more about Jesus Christ in the past two weeks than I have in my entire time in public life.”

“And that is the undeniable legacy of the great Charlie Kirk.”

The vice president went to proclaim several important truths – including reminding all Americans that there are things worse than death.

“Charlie suffered a terrible fate, my friends. We all know it. We all saw it,” Vance said. “But think, it is not the worst fate.”

The vice president continued,

It is better to face a gunman than to live your life afraid to speak the truth.
It is better to be persecuted for your faith than to deny the kingship of Christ.
It is better to die a young man in this world than to sell your soul for an easy life with no purpose, no risk, no love and no truth.

“Christ told us in the gospel of John, ‘I have said these things to you that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but take heart, I have overcome the world,’” Vance proclaimed. “Charlie took heart. And now, we must do the same.”

The vice president’s message comes at an important moment. Many young people, handed the problems of broken families, broken homes, pornography addiction, drug abuse, endless digital entertainment, and skyrocketing rates of depression and anxiety, are looking for solutions.

Young people are looking for meaning in life. And they’re turning to faith, family, and country to find it.

Recently, Gen Z has become the most church-going generation.

“Jesus is the answer,” Charlie Kirk once wrote on X. He knew that young people, particularly young men, would resonate with the challenge to be better, to aim higher, to live a life with meaning and purpose.

“Having children is more important than having a good career … my kids matter more than how many social media followers I have,” Charlie said, often challenging young men to purse marriage and family life.

In his speech, in the spirit of Charlie Kirk, Vice President Vance reminded Gen Z – and all generations – the truth that there are things worth dying for: faith, family, freedom and country.

Charlie Kirk, tragically, paid the ultimate price for defending these very things.

But by finding the things worth dying for, we also find what is worth living for.
