Bishop Harry R. Jackson Jr. is Now With Jesus
It is with great sadness, but also hopeful joy, that Focus on the Family notes the very sudden and all-too-early death of Bishop Harry R. Jackson Jr., the very influential and charismatic conservative evangelical pastor of Hope Christian Church in Beltsville, MD. He passed quietly in his sleep (cause unknown) Monday, Nov. 9 at the age of 67.
Bishop Jackson was an indefatigable defender of the family, natural marriage and the life of the unborn. He served as a personal advisor to President Trump and Vice President Mike and Second Lady Karen Pence announced Tuesday they “were saddened to learn of the passing of our dear friend” calling him “this Good and Great Man.”
Bishop Jackson had just recently remarried after his first wife, Dr. Vivian M. Jackson, died in September 2018. On October 4, Hope Christian’s Sunday service was dedicated to his new wife, Rosalind Lott, with Bishop Jackson celebrating their one month marital anniversary.
Jackson is the author of a number of books, including You Were Born for More: Six Steps To Breaking Through To Your Destiny and The Black Contract with America on Moral Values: Protecting America’s Moral Compass. He also co-wrote books with George Barna and with Family Research Council President Tony Perkins.
Jackson graduated from Williams College in Massachusetts and later earned an MBA from Harvard Business school before becoming a pastor of Hope Christian Church in 1988.
