Beginning in 2017, pro-life supporters found a strong advocate in President Trump. As promised, his key appointments to both the United States Supreme Court, federal courts and other agencies helped bring to fruition the fall of Roe, a wicked and evil 1973 decision that contributed to the death of over 60 million innocent children.

The reversal of Roe and the Dobbs decision made clear the United States Constitution does not confer a right to abortion, and that states are permitted to restrict it. While I believe the right-to-life deserves federal protection, this development has already helped save the lives of more than 10,000 babies. Despite what President Trump asserted over the weekend on Meet the Press, no law that saves innocent lives is a mistake.

As a nation, we must promote a culture of life, even if it may not seem politically expedient to do so. Many people, including the former president, seem interested in finding some compromise when it comes to the point of abortion restrictions. But such a debate begs the question: Why can a baby be saved at 4-9 months gestation but not 1-2 months? It’s still a baby.

Focus on the Family will continue to be a voice for the voiceless. If we want to make America less indifferent and more civil, we must start by respecting human life — at all stages of development.
