Newsweek conducted a survey which found that a majority of millennials – 44% of those aged 25-34 – believe that “referring to someone by the wrong gender pronoun (he/him, she/her) should be a criminal offense.”

Among millennials, 31% disagreed, with the remaining 25% neither agreeing nor disagreeing or saying they “don’t know.”

The poll did not ask what the criminal punishment should be.

A majority of those between the ages of 35 and 44 agreed that free speech should be criminalized. Newsweek reported:

38 percent think misgendering should be illegal, whilst 35 percent disagree and 26 percent either don’t know or didn’t express an opinion.

Fewer Generation Z adults, aged 18-24, believe “misgendering” should be a crime. The poll reported:

Among this group, 33 percent think calling someone by the wrong pronoun should be a criminal offense, while 48 percent disagree and the remainder [19%] answer either “neither” or “don’t know.”

Still, it’s of significant concern that one-third of that age group believe not acquiescing to woke speech codes – that explicitly violate First Amendment rights – should be criminalized.

While younger generations are embracing this pronoun dogma, the good news is that Americans as a whole disagree, Newsweek reported:

For Americans as a whole, among whom just 19 percent want misgendering to be a criminal offense, whilst 65 percent disagree, 12 percent “neither agree nor disagree” and four percent answered “don’t know.”

At the same time, more of those polled will use opposite sex pronouns when asked to do so, with 37% agreeing to use female pronouns for someone born male, if asked to do so, and 38% saying they will use male pronouns for a person born female, if asked.

Twenty-eight percent said, “it depends on the person” and 17% answered, “I don’t know,” when asked about using “she/her” for a biological male. For women living as men, the numbers were 18% and 27%, respectively.

According to the media outlet, “The poll of 1,500 eligible voters in the United States was conducted by Redfield & Wilton Strategies, for Newsweek, on July 6.

Pronoun wars have erupted because gender ideologues insist on the falsehood that a man can change into a woman, and vice versa. Some who maintain they are “transgender” or “non-binary,” ask others to use the plural pronouns “they/them.”

In addition, as gender activists make up new “genders” and “xenogenders,” they’re manufacturing “neopronouns,” based on those false identities, for individuals who insist they are not male or female – but some other “gender” all together.

What are “xenogenders?” One source says:

Xenogender is a nonbinary gender identity and umbrella term that defines gender identities which “cannot be contained by human understandings of gender” (their emphasis).

This means that its genders are more or less crafted towards things that are out of relation to humans, like animals, plants, or things.

While most stick to older invented neopronouns like “ze/zir/zirself” or “ve/ver/verself,” the Daily Citizen found this alphabetized list on Tumber that lists more than 1,450 different pronouns, including “cow/cows/cowself,” “fae/faer/faeself,” and “Tabby/Tabbies/Tabbyself.”

While our Christian faith and love for God compel us to love people caught up in gender ideology, God also calls us not to compromise His truth. This includes the truth that He created humans male and female in His image. Kindness never compels us to speak what we know to be untrue.

So individuals are one or the other, as their biology tells us, not one of the thousands of newly created “sexualities” or “genders.”

More people now embrace this false gender ideology – and many think those who disagree should be criminalized and cancelled. So it’s important for Christians, and all people of reason, to understand the issues. We must also – wisely, courageously and kindly – speak the truth about God’s good design for sexuality.
