Coming Soon: New Film ‘Faith in America’ Explores Nation’s Christian Founding
The Daily Citizen will soon premiere Faith in America, a new documentary exploring our nation’s Christian founding in celebration of America’s 250th birthday on July 4, 2026.
The nearly 25-minute feature film explores how the Christian faith brought the English settlers and pilgrims to America’s shores; how the Christian doctrine of the Imago Dei paved the way for the Declaration of Independence; how Christianity influenced America’s founding; and how Christians can engage in politics today. It will be released on Facebook, YouTube and X on July 1.
Faith in America features several notable scholars and former elected officials, including:
- Michele Bachmann, Dean of the Robertson School of Government, Regent University
- Timothy S. Goeglein, Vice President of Government Affairs, Focus on the Family
- Dr. A.J. Nolte, Associate Professor of Politics, Regent University
- Dr. Stephen Perry, Chair of the Journalism and Communication Studies Department, Regent University
- Dr. Stephen King, Professor of Government and Criminal Justice, Regent University
You can watch a short trailer for the film below:
The film arrives at a crucial moment – especially given recent events demonstrating the historical illiteracy present among much of America’s intelligentsia.
On Sunday, May 17, hundreds of thousands of Americans gathered on the National Mall for Rededicate 250, a day-long event to praise God and pray for America ahead of our nation’s 250th Birthday on July 4.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson spoke at the event and prayed, “Our rights do not derive from the government, they come from you, our Creator and Heavenly Father.”
Covering the event for MS NOW, host Katy Tur asked McKay Coppins, a guest on her show, about Johnson’s remarks: “What about this passage from Mike Johnson declaring that our rights do not derive from government, they come from you, our Creator and heavenly father. Is this him putting God over the Declaration of Independence?”
Anyone with any understanding of the Declaration of Independence will spot the problem immediately: Speaker Johnson was not “putting God over the Declaration.” He was quoting from it.
The Declaration’s words, penned by Thomas Jefferson, have echoed in the hearts and minds of regular Americans ever since 1776:
These words show how our nation was founded – not only on political differences with Great Britain – but upon theological principles and arguments. These ideas came from one primary source: the Christian faith.
Many individuals in the media, academia and elected offices may ignore America’s distinctly Christian founding. As a result, it’s up to the rest of us to tell the true story of our nation’s history.
