The shocking report from the Center for Medical Progress shows that the U.S. National Institute of Health (NIH) might be funding a project that encouraged abortionists to kill babies born alive after failed abortions in order to secure prime “specimens” for medical researchers. It’s an example of how infanticide continues to occur in this country.

What happens when a child is born alive after a failed abortion attempt? The abortion industry tells women and the public that this almost never happens, every time an abortion survivors bill comes up for a vote.

But newly released documents show that not only are babies born alive, but that these children are sometimes still alive as abortionists and researchers dissect their remains for inhumane and disturbing experiments.

The allegations have come to light though the Center for Medical Progress, David Daleiden’s nonprofit organization, and hinges on the medical definition of ischemia time, which “refers to the time after the tissue collection procedure.”

According to the report, “The University states the fetal organs do not undergo ischemia—lose their blood supply—until ‘after the tissue collection procedure’. This means the organs are still receiving blood supply from the fetal heartbeat during the ‘tissue collection’.” (emphasis in the original.)

If the babies are still alive outside the womb, that’s not abortion, it’s murder.

Even if the child was born at 18 weeks and likely only had a limited ability to live outside the womb, it’s still murder and torture to slowly rip a child’s organs out of his or her body in order to continue such “research.”

It’s also eerily similar to what Dr. Kermit Gosnell did to the babies routinely born alive in his clinic. As an incredibly inept physician and abortionist, Gosnell was unable to correctly poison the child before the abortion. When the babies were born alive, which was quite often as he also ignored the gestational abortion limit, he would “snip” the back of their necks to ensure their demise.

He was sent to prison for his crimes, including killing one of the mothers undergoing an abortion at his clinic, but perhaps he may have been able to work as an organ harvester for the NIH.

Reports like this are the reason why preborn remains and organs should never be used in medical research.

It’s both too macabre, and it invites people to push the limits of human decency. There are plenty of viable alternatives available to scientists. The reliance on preborn remains is disturbing and should not be something tolerated within our society.

The actions of the NIH and the University of Pittsburgh also bring to mind the grisly Nazi research experiments conducted before and during World War II. Using human beings as guinea pigs without any thought to their pain or suffering was routine.

This report should also invite renewed calls to pass the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. Though accountability might be difficult at times, since abortionists operate often outside the normal medical standards and oversight, it would ensure that babies who are born alive are given every chance to survive after an abortion and that abortionists are punished with fines and prison if they allow a child to die without offering life-saving assistance.

Every human life is precious, and worthy of protection. That some are willing to potentially tear the organs off living, breathing and defenseless babies should disturb us all.
